It's common to encounter challenges in maintaining routines, especially when the initial enthusiasm wanes or repetition sets in. I like your determination to approach gratitude with simplicity and authenticity. Embracing the idea that gratitude doesn't have to be elaborate or conventional is liberating and reminds us to find joy in the present moment and to cultivate a heart full of gratitude.

I struggle with the same issues - listing the same things over and over. Sometimes my gratitude journal turns into more of a "what I did today" journal. I'm in for one simple item! Today - less snow to shovel than expected!

Lol! ☃️ I can totally relate to that Cherie! I'm grateful for no snow! I grew up in Illinois, I remember those days. Thank you for reading, commenting and relating. Appreciate you. Stay warm.

I grew up in Wisconsin, but I guess my dad and brother shoveled because I have no memories of doing it then. We live in Flagstaff, AZ now and I should not complain at all because it's a very different snow, but last year we had a record setting 160+ inches and I'm still traumatized!

Wow. ☃️ I would not imagine that much snow in Arizona. I've been living in Florida since 1980. The weather has definitely changed EVERYWHERE over the years. PS. There are a lot of things "we should not complain about" , but we are all human. I think the trick is how long we linger with the complaint. I suspect you are not someone who lingers long. 😉

Nice! I, too, become "bored" with a gratitude practice that involves listing many things each day. I find myself digging around, coming up with stuff that feels like a reach: I am grateful for organic broccoli. I am grateful for the mud that scraped easily off my shoe. I am grateful for hair ties. Or, like you, repeating myself day after day. I mean, I'm grateful for my family every day. But I get bored listing them, lol.

So I like the idea of focusing on one thing, going narrower but deeper. I think I'll give it a try!

Thank you for reading & commenting on my post Maggie! I can so relate to what you wrote about a gratitude practice! ❤️ organic broccoli. 🥦 Lol. One day, one thing at a time is my motto of choice. At least I try, I'm not always successful, especially with being around toddlers. 😉 Enjoy your weekend.

With toddlers, you may indeed be grateful for hair ties!

It is something I must do otherwise I would just complain far too much. Thank you

Thank you Vanessa for reading & commenting. I hear you! That is one of my goals is to catch myself in mid-complaint and reflect on why I'm doing it. Hopefully after some reflection, I'll do it less. Wish me luck. 🍀
