I have lived in Florida since 1980 and have experienced many hurricanes, but Milton was uniquely terrifying. We currently live in Bradenton, about 45 minutes south of Tampa, right in the center of the cone.
My husband, son, daughter-in-law, her mother, my three grandbabies, and I hunkered down Wednesday night, October 9th. We had shutters, plenty of lanterns, water, provisions, and faith. We had prepared as much as we could. The lights failed before the storm reached its peak intensity but still gave us time to cook brownies.
I was happy that we were all together.
We had relatively little damage compared to some of our neighbors. The lights came back on after about 40 hours, and the weather turned cooler.
Grateful.
I’ll be back next week to tell more of the story.
Happy our little tree was spared. Happy granddaughters after the storm.
Till next week…Stay safe.
Keep smiling!
Thanks for reading!

Great news, Pamela! Thanks for letting us know.
Pamela, Glad you and your family are all safe and had relatively little damage. I have some friends in Bradenton who also didn't get much damage.
